The Value of Career Exposure with Pre-CTE Pathways
Middle school is pivotal times for students to explore their interests and build valuable skills for the future. Our Pre-CTE Pathways introduce younger students to career-focused learning in a fun and engaging way, setting the stage for more advanced Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities in high school.
What Are Pre-CTE Pathways?

Pre-CTE Pathways provide middle school students with hands-on learning experiences in various industries. These exploratory programs allow students to develop foundational skills while discovering potential career interests. Unlike traditional CTE programs, Pre-CTE Pathways are designed with flexibility in mind, making them ideal for middle school schedules.
Available Pre-CTE Pathways
Our Pre-CTE Pathways introduce students to exciting career fields, including:
- Information Technology (IT) – Gain foundational knowledge of software and computer components.
- Nursing – Learn essential skills for healthcare support roles.
- Veterinary Science – Explore animal care and medical basics.
- Construction – Discover the fundamentals of building and design.
- Cosmetology – Develop basic skills in beauty and self-care practices.
- Early Childhood Education – Focus on nurturing young children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through play-based, interactive, and age-appropriate experiences.
**Please note: Construction and Cosmetology are In-Person only, while Nursing, Vet, IT, and Early Childhood Education can be completed 100% virtually. Class formats may vary.

Micro Certs in CTE-Recognized Industries
To further enhance their learning, students can earn micro certifications in recognized industries. These certifications act as resume boosters and provide students with tangible skills they can use in future coursework or part-time opportunities. Examples include:
- Barbicide Certification for Cosmetology
- CPR Certification for Nursing
- Pediatric CPR, First-Aid, Safe-Serve, and Baby-Sitting Certifications for Early Childhood Education
These micro certs offer practical knowledge without requiring extensive licensing or age-restricted qualifications.

Flexible Learning Opportunities
Our Pre-CTE Pathways are designed to be adaptable. While traditional CTE programs follow structured coursework, our middle school programs can be customized for a maximum of one year. This flexibility allows students to explore career pathways during the school year or as part of a summer program.
